Organiser was the Süddeutsche Kunststoffzentrum (SKZ), the event was moderated by Dr. Udo Wachtler, of Wacker Chemie AG. Over 80 participants used this opportunity to update themselves on the current status of the entire silicone elastomer value chain.

Small batches often require frequent tool changes. Together with heating and cool-down times, tool changes can often take many hours. Hours in which the injection moulding machine is idle. The consequence are disproportionately high machine set up costs in the product cost calculation. For several years now, DESMA has offered a range of different tool change systems.

Another highlight at the IRC was the FlowControl+ cold runner system that enables a controlled shear heat input into the compound. Hence, this is the first cold runner which permits considerable cure time reductions. Here, cure time savings of 25 % have already been achieved in the seal sector.
